What is a Dig out?

A dig-out refers to the process of removing existing asphalt pavement, or sections of it, by excavation in order to repair or replace damaged asphalt surfaces. Asphalt dig-outs are commonly performed to address pavement issues such as potholes, cracks, or structural failures in the underlying base materials. Dig outs are used when the pavement has failed in localized areas, such as when the underlying support materials have disintegrated or lost their load-carrying capacity. This can happen due to age, weather effects, or heavy use.  Proper excavation and replacement are crucial to ensuring the longevity and safety of the repaired asphalt surface.
