Senior Center

The Pinole Senior Center provides social, educational, recreational, health, nutritional, and consumer services and activities designed to appeal to a wide range of mature adults residing within the City of Pinole and surrounding communities. Services offered at the Senior Center include lunch program, Food Distribution programs, Zumba, Tai Chi, card games, line dancing, aerobics, gift shop, pool, music, and arts classes as well as events like our annual Senior Craft Fairs, Car Show Pancake Breakfast, and Crab Feed. Senior Food Program

The Pinole Senior Center partners with the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano County on their Senior Food Program. Low-income senior citizens 55+ will be able to receive free groceries, including healthy pantry staples, eggs, cheese and assorted meats twice a month. The program at the Pinole Senior Center is available for Pinole senior residents ONLY. The program is offered every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month.

If you are interested in the program all individuals must complete the Senior Food Program Application. Applications are available at the Front Desk of the Senior Center and can be submitted Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 am – 1 pm

All peddlers, solicitors or order agents of any goods, wares or merchandise, newspapers and periodical publications and, excepting fruits, vegetables or other produce raised by the peddler, solicitor or order agent, must apply for a solicitor’s permit through the Police Department.

Status of Planning Application

Citizens can check the status of a submitted planning application online .

Planning Staff is available to assist by contacting the Planning Division by email, the Department phone line (510-724-8912), the Planning Manager phone (510-724-9842), during open Permit Counter hours on Wednesdays from 1-3pm, or by individual appointment scheduled by email.

Submit a Public Comment

The City Council holds regular meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the City Hall, 2131 Pear Street, Pinole, at 5:00 p.m. City Council business immediately follows the conclusion of Closed Session items.

The Council encourages expression of views and opinions by citizens on any matter of community interest that is within the Council’s authority. Comments during public hearings, written and oral communications, are all appropriate methods of expressing views.

Citizens wishing to address the Council on any matter not on the Agenda may do so under Citizens To Be Heard.

Citizens may request items to be placed on the agenda by making a request under Citizens To Be Heard or by submission in writing, sent to the attention of the City Clerk’s Office. The request will be forwarded to the City Council for their consideration and requires receipt of a majority vote of the Council to add the item to a future meeting.

Tai Chi

SilverSneakers EnerChi incorporates Tai Chi principles to improve physical and mental well-being. “EnerChi” introduces modified Qi Gong & Tai Chi forms that offer a guided flow that increases strength and vitality. The class takes place on Wednesdays at 10:30 am in the Main Hall of the Senior Center.

Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Committee 

The Traffic & Pedestrian Safety Committee (TAPS) was established in 2007 and currently consists of four committee members and one staff member. The public meetings take place every 2nd Wednesday at 6:00pm in the City Hall Council Chambers.
