What is the Citizens Academy?

The Pinole Citizens Academy is a free three-session interactive program that provides insight to City services and operations and offers opportunities for civic engagement in the City.

This is the first Pinole Citizens Academy founded by City Manager, Kelcey Young, with the full support of the Department Heads.

It provides an excellent opportunity for the community to increase their knowledge of City government and its impact. Through presentations by top City leaders, participants benefit from a unique interactive learning and behind the scenes experience.

What are the Goals of the Citizens Academy?

Increase Knowledge of Citizens

Participants become better informed about the role and structure of City government in the community and gain a better understanding about what is required to run a city.

Civic Engagement

The PCA is a program of civic engagement and increases on-going citizen participation in City government. Citizens learn how they can be more involved with the City.

Networking

Participants have the opportunity to connect with other citizens from around the City. Participants and staff foster enhanced communication.

What will I learn?

Over the course of three, Wednesday evening sessions, participants increase their knowledge about Pinole and its services through the City’s Vision:

with emphasis on departmental innovation and sustainability in addressing the Pinole’s Goals.

Who Can Participate?

The Academy is open to anyone who lives, works, or owns a business in Pinole who has an interest in City government.

The program is free, but enrollment is limited.
