Amenities

The Fernandez Park is located at 595 Tennent Ave., Pinole. Reservations for this park are accepted for the Gazebo and BBQ Area. Details on fees, amenities, and capacity will be listed under the BBQ Area and Gazebo tab. A sound permit is required for all reservations.  There is a minimum 5 hour to reserve this facility. Additional hours may be added by contacting the Recreation Coordinator.

The Fernandez Park is closed from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM every day.

Park Rules

  1. All City Parks, except Fernandez Park, are closed from ½ hour after sunset to ½ hour before sunrise the following day.
  2. It is unlawful for any person to be in any City Park when the park is closed.
  3. Smoking or vaping of any substance is prohibited in all City Parks and within 50 feet of all park entrances. Tobacco use of any kind is prohibited within all parks.
  4. Motor vehicles are prohibited within park grounds except on access roadways which are open to the public. Special permits may be available on an as needed basis for special events. Emergency Services and City Vehicles are exempt.
  5. Parking is allowed in designated area only.
  6. Bicycle use in parks must comply with the California Vehicle Code.
  7. Alcoholic beverages, open or closed, are not allowed in any City Park at any time. Persons using linear parks as a means of transportation from shopping destinations may transport closed containers.
  8. No glass containers are allowed in any City park.
  9. Dogs using the parks must be leashed at all times, except within designated areas. People must immediately remove any animal waste deposited by animals under their care for proper disposal.
  10. No animals are allowed within playground areas at any time.
  11. Feeding of wild animals within the parks is prohibited.
  12. Fishing within any City Park must comply with California Fish and Wildlife Regulations.
  13. Horses are allowed only on designated trails. People must immediately remove any animal waste deposited by animals under their care for proper disposal.
  14. No fires are allowed within any City Park.
  15. No fireworks are allowed within any City Park.
  16. City barbeque pits may be used for charcoal burning only. BBQ coals must be fully extinguished before leaving the area.
  17. No outside or personal barbeques are allowed.
  18. No interfering with person(s) lawfully using or maintaining the park.
  19. No person shall modify, damage, or alter any park, or park facility in any way.
  20. No person shall destroy, injure, cut or take any natural element of any park including, but not limited to, flowers, shrubs, seeds, wood, rocks, frogs, ducks, and/or crayfish.
  21. Swimming in San Pablo Bay is at your own risk.
  22. Skateboarding is allowed only within the Skateboarding park. Skateboarding is prohibited in all other park areas.
  23. Tennis courts are for playing tennis only.
  24. Park users must remove all refuse arising out of their use of the parks for proper
    disposal.
  25. Amplified sound is prohibited within all parks without a permit.
  26. No items may be left unattended within the parks, this includes chairs, animal habitat or food, temporary monuments or memorials, campsites and all other personal property.
    Any unattended personal property is subject to removal.
  27. Any picnic, activity or meeting of a group over 30 persons shall be required to have a
    permit for such activity.
  28. Any picnic or meeting of any size group desiring to use priority areas within the parks
    shall be required to have a reservation.
  29. Any person using any park facility for profit, such as personal training, boot camp, filming, or lessons, shall be required to have a permit for such activity.
  30. Rental of specific areas of the parks is managed by the City. All rental use must follow the rules provided with their rental agreement. Violation of any of these rules and regulations of Pinole Municipal Code may result in the issuance of a citation and/or arrest.
  31. Private groups and organization planning a special event with 100 or more persons in a City of Pinole Park space must submit a special event permit application. The Event Organizer is responsible for submitting a complete Special Events Permit Application to the City a minimum of 6 months prior to the proposed event. If an application is submitted less than six months before an event, the City may be unable to deliver the required City services and/or authorize the event. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.Completed applications are considered a request for permit only; submission does not mean that the event has been approved.

The Picnic Grove has four picnic areas that can be reserved for special events with various amenities, including wheelchair accessibility, and water fountains.

You may reserve more than one area for your event. Please contact the recreation coordinator if reserving more than 1 area of this park. The Reserved Permit is completed by city staff and will posted on the posting board 24-48 hours prior to your reservation. The posting board for your Reserved Permit is located next to the barbecue pit.

Baseball Field Rentals

Fernandez Park offers 1 baseball field with stadium lights. The field is very popular with the community and reservations are required. 

Reservations are taken on a first come, first served basis. Groups with a completed reservation have first and sole priority of use for the entire field reserved. Cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to rental. Rainout days will be rescheduled.

Rental Fees & Reservations

Resident: $15/hour
Non-Resident: $23/hour

Light Fee: $12/hour

Rental fees and completed reservation application are due upon reservation request. Park hours shall be based upon the amount of light available for the safety of park users (It is unlawful for anyone to be in any City park between 9 pm and 6 am). Teams or groups looking to rent the field on a re-occurring basis will need to contact the Recreation Coordinator at ksantoyo@pinole.gov or call (510) 724-9802 for additional information.

The baseball field is available for rental for baseball games and practices only. The field is a baseball diamond with a bleacher grandstand. Rental groups must be mindful of field time in consideration with daylight as there are no field lights at Pinole Valley Baseball Field.

PARK RENTAL FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

  • Where do I go to make a reservation? All reservations are processed online. Here is the link to our online reservation portal
  • What is the park rental fees and what is included in the rentals? Each park rentals offers amenities unique to that park. Please look under each Park name tabs for a list of specific amenities and fees.
  • Are inflatable jumpers allowed at the park? N0!
  • How many are allowed to attend my event at the park? 40 or more will require a reservation. A special event application will be required for over 100 attendees. Please see tab under “Special event” for more info.
  • Where can I see the calendar to know if the park is available for my event? Go to our online reservation portal, https://pinolerec.recdesk.com/Community/Facility click on the name of the park, and then go to the calendar. Scroll to the date of your event, and if there is no RESERVED sign on it, then that date is available. Park reservation will not be allowed for less than 45 days’ notice.
  • I am ready to make a reservation, now what do I do next? Follow the steps listed under the tab “How to make a Reservation” and after reading the instructions, click on the REGISTER button.
  • What happens next after I completed the online park application & paid for my reservation? The Recreation Coordinator will send you an email within 1-2 weeks after having received your park application and having reviewed it. Then you will receive an email approving your application if all requirements have been completed. You may use this as reference for your reservation and a reserved permit will also be posted 24-48 hours prior to your reservation. Reservations are enforceable by the Pinole Police Department. Please contact the Police Department at(510) 724-8950 ONLY if an issue has occurred. Thank you!
  • Are tents allowed at park rentals? Tents allowed under 200 sq. ft. and canopies under 400 sq. ft. allowed (typically 10 x 10 pop-up tents). Tents and canopies may not exceed this square footage or size. Pop tents or canopies may not be staked into turf/grass or ground and not allowed to be attached to trees, shrubs, facilities and other amenities • All tents and canopies must be weighted down securely.
  • Is there a signage that will be posted that shows the Park is reserved for my event? A Reserved Permit will be posted on the posting board at the park, 24-48 hours prior to your reservation. This posting board is located on the Fernandez Park BBQ area and at the Pinole Valley Grove Park
  • Is alcohol allowed? Alcoholic beverages are not allowed in City parks
  • What happens if I want to cancel my reservation or if it rains on the day of my reservation? Park Reservation Cancellation: For cancellation written notices of 30 or more days prior to event, a refund/household credit will available when approved by the Recreation Coordinator. Rainout days will be rescheduled dependent on availability when renter has submitted a written request to the Recreation Coordinator and has been approved. The renter and members of their party/event are responsible for following all park rules (please see tab under Park Rule). RESERVATIONS

  • HOW TO MAKE A RESERVATION:

  • Go to our online registration portal https://pinolerec.recdesk.com/Community/Facility.
  • Create an account by going to log in 
  • Once you have created a profile account, go to FACILITIES, PARKS, choose one of the parks (Fernandez Park BBQ Area, Gazebo, or Pinole Valley Grove Park).
  • To find out if the park is available to rent on the date of your event, click on the RESERVE sign next to the name of the facility
  • You will be directed to the reservation CALENDAR page. Find the date of your event. If there is a RESERVE sign on the date of your event, then it will be available. NO RESERVE sign on any single day means it is not available.
  • If the date for your event is available and you are ready to make a reservation, click on the RESERVE sign on the calendar page on the date for your event.
  • Complete all the online forms. Upload a copy of your driver’s license or CA ID to the online form. Everyone is required to submit a copy of their driver’s license or CA ID
  • Go to checkout
  • You will be directed to the Waiver page where you must click Accept to continue.
  • At the Checkout, fill out credit card information and click Continue. You will then be presented with a summary of the transaction (including processing fees). Click OK to complete the transaction. If you clicked OK, your credit card will be processed and the registration process will be complete
  • Registrations are NOT complete until you go through the Checkout process. 
  • The Recreation Coordinator will contact you via email regarding your park application.
